I’ve been a regular at Shaws since it opened in the 1980s. It was “up and down” for a number of the early years BUT now is as good as it gets. The room is fantastic (both main dining and the separate oyster bar), overall seafood menu is extensive, the service is great and the oyster selection and quality is terrific!!! If you are in downtown Chicago and love oysters – GO!!!!

Back again to Shaw’s after a month in Denver. I tried a few “Wolf Beach” oysters, from Totten Inlet, WA which were quite good with a deep cup, medium/small size but a very nice oyster. We never seem to be in Chicago when Shaw’s has their October Oyster Fest…must work on that.

We connect trains in Chicago and have gone to Shaw’s a number of times between trains. It has a classy, city air to it with photos of famous oyster lovers adorning the walls. Great bar with shucking station so you can sit there and talk with the shucker. Nice selection of fresh oysters, crab, clams and fish. I do not recall what oysters we had but they were fresh, well shucked and eaten with joy in lovely, friendly surroundings.
